About Krystyna

For former event manager Krystyna Tamblyn, a career change to property management was the step she needed to keep her skills fresh, while taking on the challenge of a new industry.

For three years prior to starting at Lodge Rentals, Krystyna was a functions and events coordinator at H3 Group in Hamilton, the team responsible for large-scale events and activations around Hamilton.

Fortunately, the skills she established in her previous roles, which include project management, customer service and organisation, translated easily into a career in property management.

“Good property management is largely relationship based,” says Krystyna. “At the end of the day, we want our owners to be happy and know we’re taking good care of their investment and finding great tenants – things which are all helped along by building great relationships across the board.”

Born and raised in Wellington, Krystyna moved to Hamilton to undertake tertiary study in communications and sustainability. After university she worked for several years in event management, before deciding a change was on the cards.

She says she’s glad to have made the move to Lodge, finding her role as a property manager puts to good use her education and skills, while leaving room for further growth and development.

“The team at Lodge are fantastic. Everyone has a great attitude and are always willing to help with advice or assistance. It helps too that most people have been with Lodge for a long time, so there’s loads of experience to draw from, which was a great help when I started.”

Krystyna believes two of the best assets a successful property manager can have are patience and great communication.

“You’re interacting with a wide cross-section of people, all from different backgrounds and viewpoints, so the biggest way I believe we can help tenants and landlords is to respect everyone’s differences and communicate effectively towards a common solution.”

Outside of work Krystyna enjoys exploring Hamilton’s walking trails and currently counts the Hakariamata track as a favourite.
