Buying a rural lifestyle property

At Lodge we have local specialist rural and lifestyle salespeople to help find your new lifestyle block. Most of them live on their own block, or have done in the past, which gives them practical experience to help you achieve your dream. The networks and relationships they enjoy around the Waikato basin helps refine your buying experience.

There is a lot to consider before settling on the perfect lifestyle block to call home. To help you to get to know the lifestyle communities around the Waikato a little better we’ve developed a brief outline of them for you. We’ve also noted a few questions below that, in our experience, are critical to seek answers to in order to ensure you get buying a rural property right.

  • What schools are in the area? And does the bus pick up close to the property?

  • What is the water supply? Is it town, bore or trickle feed water?

  • What are the neighbouring properties/the area like? See our suburb profiles.

  • What is the contour of the land like?

  • What are the current owners grazing on the property?

  • What is the soil type? What is it best for?

  • What sort of stock can be run on the property?

  • Is it suitable for horticulture?

  • Are glasshouses allowed to be built on the property?

  • Can a business be run from the property?

  • Is the land subdividable?

  • Are all buildings permitted/consented?

  • Are there any new roading projects planned that may affect the property?

  • Are there any other known resource consents applied for or granted that could affect the property?

All the best for your search. We’d love to help so please contact any one of salespeople to assist.
