History
Beerescourt Road was formed in 1870 but was not named until 1900. When the Fairfield Bridge was built in 1936 the area was still so sparsely populated that the council drew criticism for having built a bridge so far from town. However, a period in the 1950s saw a rapid expansion in development, so much so that Woodstock School was built in 1954 and Vardon School in 1957 allying the parallel development of the suburbs. Today it is a popular and attractive city fringe suburb.

Real Estate & Design
A mixture of homes built throughout Hamiltons history. Many early homes from the 1900s have been renovated and modernised. A period starting in the 1930s saw a number of art deco homes built throughout the area. The work of prominent Hamilton architect Terrence Vautier is evident throughout these suburbs. It was his work in particular that caused Ronald Vines to exclaim in his 1940s Womans Weekly article that Fine new homes beside fine old Waikato, the homes of Hamilton are amongst the most modern and beautiful in New Zealand. Fine examples exist in Waterfall House at 1337 Victoria Street and 543 River Road. The 1950s and sixties was a time when many brick homes were built. Many of these have polished floors and are modernised throughout. Infill housing and the popularity of this area in such close proximity to the city has seen modern homes introduced throughout the area.

Shopping
The River Road shops running adjacent to the Fairfield Bridge offer a variety of speciality shopping and convenience services including popular Stax Furniture for pieces that are distinctive. The French House offers a variety of distinctive furnishings and pieces to liven your home. Beerescourt shops at the top of Victoria Street are a mixture of takeaway and food stores including the popular Hector Hortons for fine wines and spirits.

Restaurants & Cafes
The Suburbia caf on Victoria Street is popular for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Complement your meal with a special wine from Hector Hortons next door. Hells Pizza in the same shopping block offers gourmet pizzas. On River Road The French Tart is a French style caf.

Sports & Fitness
Ranfurly Park is a bush adventure for all ages. The river walk that winds its way from one end of the city to the other is possibly at its prettiest through Beerescourt. A popular run follows the track from the Fairfield Bridge to the Pukete Bridge and back along River Road approximately 8 km. Learn to swim at Ace Swimming in Casey Ave.

Schools & Education
Younger children enjoy Woodstock Primary and Vardon Road Primary schools or the popular Catholic schools of St Josephs and St Peter Chanel. Maeroa and St Andrews Intermediate are popular intermediates for Beerescourt children while Fairfield Intermediate borders Woodstock. The Waikato Diocesan School for Girls is situated on River Road. Fairfield College and Fraser High School are also centrally situated.

Distance from CBD
Both Beerescourt and Woodstock are the first suburbs when exiting the city centre. A cab fare ranges from $8 - $12 to the CBD. Buses also run throughout the area.

Key Attractions
The proximity to the city, the wide tree lined streets and the large character homes are the key attractions of the area. There is a consistency of values throughout the area and the extent of renovations being carried out is evidence of the value being sustained.
