Before starting in a real estate sales career with Lodge there are a few steps you need to take.

1. What qualifications do you need?
All real estate salespeople in New Zealand are required to be licensed by the Real Estate Agents Authority (REAA). However, before you can apply for your license you need to gain a real estate qualification.
If you have a recognised property degree and want to apply for a real estate licence, you will need to complete an assessment. 
 
Costs
It costs between $1500 to $2000 to get your real estate certificate.
 
Training providers
There are a number of educational institutions which provide these qualifications, including the ones below: 
• Open Polytechnic
• Skills
• TAFE
• Unitec

2. Applying for a licence
You can apply for a licence from the REAA once you’ve got all the required qualifications and have advertised your application.
 
3. Becoming an independent contractor
To become a real estate agent, you need to work for a licensed real estate company such as Lodge Real Estate. You then become an independent contractor, running your own business under the umbrella of the Lodge Real Estate brand. The Lodge team will help you establish yourself as an independent contractor.
 
4. Maintaining your licence
Once you’ve joined Lodge Real Estate, you can achieve all your compulsory REAA requirements in-house - all for free.
